about

I wrote this song after witnessing a mother giving her child a verbal ass whippin in a Queens supermarket. The blatant dis-reguard for everyone else but herself was shaking to say the least. But grace has this amazing ability to bring us to the understanding that we aren't absent of guilt for the same bitter actions under differing circumstances. Through the eye of grace we have to hope and inspire and sometimes speak hope and love to un-lovely people, like ourselves.

lyrics

You took out the gun
And it was your mouth
You made them one
Cowering crowd
now you begin to see the pain
You brought them misery and shame
your hearts not bad i know
Its just so hard to let power go

And now you've gone
Gone door to door
Gone toe to toe
But not with a towel
Thats where you have all of my weight
My hard earned cash behind you now
now you begin to see the pain
its brought you misery and shame
your hearts not bad i know
its just so hard to let power go

Sweep it all
You're caught in a whirl
You're caught in a whirl of your soul
flee the scene
the violent stream
the river flowing out of self control

you put down the gun
avoiding power
released the chain
weight has no hold
its your finest hour
Now you begin to see in the dark
truth it penetrates the heart
now after all these years you're free
not to view friends as enemies
