about
My mom was visiting my Grandfather in a small room at the retirement home he was living at. She asked him "how are you doing Dad"? A long pause... and then he responded "...Oh...Just laughing to keep from crying". At 95, He was married to my grandmother for 70 years and had recently lost her and outlived most of his friends...he knew how to laugh!
This song is about holding it together, coping, but more than that-having a hope of a good future and not losing sight of the unseen joy that will come with it.
lyrics
I can hear you laughing just to keep from crying
this is not a new thing necessary dying
keep it in tune thats what we do to cope
Measure the cross and then move on
Look at what the king said "I just cant help believing"
Past is shouting hearsay and hell is loudly agreeing
Keep it in tune thats what we do to cope
measure the cross and then move on
We Begin to fall into this desert well
The future cant be called
Bought and sold in blood where injury is held
And all we have is Love
I dont want to listen to anymore designing
But i've go my eyes peeled for the truth in hiding
I'll take the one two
Chew on the Crow
Measure the cross
And look for the dawn
